It’s been the deja vu-iest post season ever. Usually tournament play opens Moore County up to play opponents outside our district in places like Tellico Plains and Merrol Hyde. But the 2021 post season’s been filled with a lot of familiar names. Along those lines, Moore County will travel to Bell Buckle tonight to take on District 8 foe, the Cascade Champions.

The two teams last met up in the district consolation game in Bedford County. Second effort points by Cascade and low fourth period scoring from the Raiders told the story in the 47-56 loss for Moore County.

On February 25, the Raiders went into the fourth quarter down by just four points with a clear path to the W but missed shots and Cascade’s second efforts scores sealed the game. The Raiders shot just 5-19 from the floor and 7-17 from the three point line against the Champions. Moore County will need to improve their rebounding and shooting percentage to walk away with the Region 4A title.

Tuesday night’s win against another District 8 foe, Eagleville, secured the Moore County boys a spot in the TSSAA Region 4A Sectional game for the first time since 2008. A win tonight could also earn Raider seniors one more home game. Thursday nights winner will host their sectional game on Monday and the loser will travel.

Tickets to tonight’s game have sold out and are no longer available on Go Fan but Moore County fans can also watch via the NFHS Network thanks to the MCHS Sport Network student broadcasting crew. Click here for that link. •
