REGIONAL EVENT NEWS | Manchester — You’ll need proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test to enter The Farm this year, Bonnaroo official announced today. On a statement on their website, organizers said, “Bonnaroo strongly encourages vaccination. The last day to receive the second shot of Moderna or Pfizer, or a single dose of Johnson and Johnson is Thursday, August 19.”
Bonnaroo also stated that unvaccinated festivalgoers must obtain a negative COVID-19 test dated within 72 hours of the festival. Unvaccinated folks will be asked to wear a mask at all times while on The Farm though they appear to stop short of a mandate. To read their entire statement, click here.
“Based on the latest advice from the CDC, Bonnaroo will require masks in any indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status. These areas include the General Store, Plaza Barns and all enclosed activation,” the event’s website stated.
Bonnaroo made the announcement just three hours after Milwaukee’s Summerfest made a similar announcement. Chicago’s Lollapalooza and Nashville singer-songwriter Jason Isbell made national news in the past few weeks with similar announcement. Live Nation, one of the country’s biggest concert promoters, rolled out a policy last week allowing performers to add a vaccination proof or negative test requirement to their upcoming shows.
Bonnaroo officials stated that rapid COVID testing will be available at all medical tents throughout the four-day event and anyone testing positive would be asked to leave but could request a refund. This year’s event will feature Foo Fighters, Lizzo, Tyler, the Creator, Megan Thee Stallion, Tame Impala, and Rüfüs du Sol as headliners. It kicks off on Thursday, September 2 at Great Stage Park just 22 miles from Lynchburg in Manchester. •
