Spring is here and Easter happens this weekend. Looking for something to do around Lynchburg? We’ve searched hundreds of websites and social media pages so you don’t have to. These are our four favorite things happening in and around Lynchburg this weekend.
1 | Check Out Bike Night in Lynchburg — Bike Night will return to the historic Lynchburg Square this Friday and continue on the first Friday of each month through October. It will serve as a gathering spot for cool motorcycles from this area and folks from as far away as Nashville. 2 | Cuddle Some Cows at the Drive In in Estill Springs — It’s a fabulous fundraiser and honestly one heck of a stress reliever. Storybrooke Farm will bring several Highland calves to the drive in on Friday and Saturday and for a $10 donation you can pet them and take photos. Highland’s are a Scottish breed known for their long horns and shaggy coats. The Montana Drive In sponsors the event and plans to donated 100 percent of the proceeds to the annual Christmas Tree lighting. They raised nearly $4,000 last weekend and will be onsite again this Friday and Saturday from 5-7 p.m. Follow their Facebook page for more details.
3 | Enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt at the Hands On Science Center — The Hands on Science Center will host a community Easter Celebration on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will offer three separate Easter Egg Hunts for three age categories. A hunt for kids five and under will start at 10:30 a.m. followed by a hunt for ages 6-9 at 12:30 p.m. There will also be a tween egg hunt at 2:30 p.m. and a teen egg toss competition at 4 p.m. with a $100 cash prize. Last year they hid over 20,000 eggs and there will be more this year. There will also be a science shows, crafts, games, a bounce house, and concessions. 4 | Learn About Backyard Birds at Tims Ford State Park — During COVID when everyone stayed stuck at home, bird watching became a thing and many have continued the tradition. And why not? Middle Tennessee is a heck of a place to spot some gorgeous species like Summer Tanagers, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, New World Warblers, American Goldfinches, and numerous others. On Saturday at 9 a.m., Kay at the Tims Ford State Park Nature Center will talk about backyard species. Then at 1 p.m. you can join her to play Trivia Bird Bingo. Both events are free.
