5 Don’t Miss Things Happening at Frontier Days This Weekend

You’ve seen them on Shark Tank and The Food Network. Don’t miss the Cousin’s Maine Lobster Food Truck as it makes its Frontier Days premiere on Friday in Lynchburg. (Photo Provided)

The flash of lights and the smell of cotton candy will once again take over the historic Lynchburg Square and Wiseman Park this Friday and Saturday as the annual Frontier Days celebration kicks off.

Here are five don’t miss things to check out:

1| Cousin’s Maine Lobster Food Truck | Maine is located over a thousand miles from Lynchburg but beginning on Friday, Maine Lobster Rolls, Lobster Bisque, Lobster Grilled Cheese and more will be served as the Cousin’s Maine Lobster Truck from Nashville makes its debut at Frontier Days. 2| The Lynchburg Dunking Booth | It’s stored away in a local barn somewhere 363 days a year but every June, the famous Lynchburg Dunking Booth appears for another round and hilarity always ensues. We don’t want to spill the bean but the word on the street is that some notable locals have volunteered to let you take your best shot at them.

3 | Frontier Days Queen | Crowning the Frontier Days Queen is a Lynchburg tradition that dates back decades. But it’s not a beauty contest. One representative from the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior class put on their “girl boss” entrepreneurial hats and raise some serious money for their classmates. This year’s Miss Frontier Days will be crowned on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Gazebo on the Square.

4 | The Lynchburg Chamber Auction | The Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce works hard each year to make our small town’s events a success. Spring in the Hollow, Frontier Days, Halloween in Hollow, and Christmas in Lynchburg would not be possible without the hard work from these volunteers. Show your support on Saturday at the annual Lynchburg Chamber Live Auction. Items include things like Lynchburg Music Fest VIP passes, Ryman Auditorium tickets, gift certificates, and even a load of crushed limestone. The auction starts at noon on the Main Stage.

5| Fireworks Over Wiseman Park | No small town festival happening near July 4 would be complete without a fireworks display and Frontier Days plans to deliver. Saturday night’s festivities will conclude with a free fireworks show at 9 p.m. Set up your lawn chair or blanket in Wiseman Park or on the Lynchburg Square and enjoy.

Frontier Days kicks off Friday at 5 p.m. and continues Saturday until around 10 p.m. There are tons of other cool things happening like rides, games, arts and crafts, live music, a Hilltop Angus Beef Sale, a Lynchburg Pet Contest, and more. To view a full schedule of events, click here. •
