One vehicle accident damages Health Department

LOCAL NEWS –– On July 29 around 1:15 p.m., a one vehicle accident severely damaged the Moore County Health Department located at 12 Magnolia Street in Lynchburg, according to officials a the Moore County Sheriff’s Department.

As a reminder, the Health Department moved to its new temporary location in the former Lynchburg Family Medicine office from 251 Majors Boulevard in March.

On Thursday, an 87 year-old Belvidere woman ran into the building as she arrived for her COVID 19 vaccination. The one vehicle accident caused significant structural damage to the building and destroyed office furniture. Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Metro Volunteer Fire Department, Metro EMA and Metro EMS all reported to the scene.

No office staff or visitors were injured in the accident. The driver also did not sustain injuries and was not transported. A bystander at the scene stated that the determined woman planned to stay and receive her COVID second shot. An equally determined Health Department staff will be available today to administer COVID-19 vaccine. You’ll just need to use the back entrance. Call them at 931-759-4251 to make an appointment. •
