LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. — No. That’s not a basketball score. On Friday night in Lawrence County, two Moore County rushers showed up and showed out for those Raider fans who made the nearly two hour trip to cheer on their good guys in Columbia blue. Junior running back Logan Hegwood and junior option quarterback Dawson White each ran for over 100 yards in the game. Hegwood led and carried the ball 25 times for 166 yards and a touchdown and White ran 13 times for 140 yards for five touchdowns.

Moore County scored nine total touchdowns to edge the Mustangs by 20 points. The win improves Moore County to 6-1 on the season and 2-1 in district play. Fayetteville handed the Raiders their only loss this season. The Tigers currently lead in Region 5A play with Moore County and Eagleville tied for second in the region standings.

Moore County’s offense clicked on all cylinders on Friday night. Four Raider receivers managed double digit yardage. Freshman Alex Copeland led with 75 yards followed by senior Will Baker with 53 yards. Junior Keller Morey added another 23 and senior Isaiah Petty put up 20 more. Junior Eli Brown (9) and Logan Hegwood (6) also added positive yardage In total, the Raiders put up 186 total yards through the air. Junior option quarterback Dawson White was 14/22 and threw two passing touchdowns and two interceptions.

Moore County put up 491 total yards of offense.

White led with five total touchdowns. Baker, Brown, Hegwood, and Jolley all added a touchdown each. Senior Raider kicker Blake Bradford was six of eight on the night for six total points. Morey also added a two point conversion.

On defense, sophomore Peyton Martin led with nine total tackles followed by sophomore Landon Smith with seven tackles. Alex Copeland, Eli Brown, sophomore Logan Cashion, and junior James Laster added six tackles each. Other Raider tacklers include junior Wes Clifton (5), sophomore Bryson Carter (5), Keller Morey (3), Dawson White (3), Isaiah Petty (3), freshman Dillon Sherrill (2), junior Landon Jolley (2) and senior Landon Brann (1). Martin also got the only sack of the night while Copeland ball hawked two passes and Petty intercepted one more.

The Raiders will play their final away game on Friday night in Collinwood. It’s a Region 5A match up and a win that the Raiders will need if they plan to make a playoff run. The Trojans are currently 2-5 overall and 1-2 in district play. Collinwood beat Huntland 22-20 on September 30 and Richland 33-28 last Friday night.
