LOCAL EVENT NEWS | Mulberry — Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ve likely come across the Fancy Like Tik Tok dance challenge. It started when the song’s singer, Walker Hayes, posted a Tik Tok of he and his daughter dancing to his song Fancy Like with some signature moves. The video quickly gained steam with over seven million views (and counting). Soon other users were showing off their own moves. On July 10, you can show off your own version when Hayes plays live at the Lynchburg Music Fest. The events will take place Thursday, July 8 through Saturday, July 10.

The 2021 event will be the third annual for the Lynchburg event. The inaugural Lynchburg Music Fest took place in 2019 in historic Lynchburg. In 2020, the event moved to Music Hollow – a farm located off Louse Creek Road in the Mulberry community.

This year, LMF returns to Music Hollow and will include not only three days of live music but also the new Lynchburg Music Fest Rodeo on Saturday. Organizers announced their final line up this week and this year’s event will include Cody Johnson, Hardy, Jameson Rodgers, Parmalee, Walker Hayes, Ernest, Tyler Brayden, Joe & Martina, Resurrection a Journey Tribute Band, Lucas Hoge, Cody Purvis, Lee Gibson, and many more.

According to event organizes, they have added performances in the VIP only area by Nashville signer, songwriters Tony Lane and James T Slater.

Readers may recognize some of Lane’s songwriting works like Lee Ann Womack’s Little Past Little Rock, which hit number one on the Billboard charts. Other hits include George Strait’s Run, Tim McGraw’s I Need You, John Michael Montgomery’s Letters from Home, Lady A’s Hello World, Trace Adkins’ This Ain’t No Love Song and I Wanna Feel Something, as well as Easton Corbin’s Roll with It. His most recent hit, On My Way to You, was recorded by fellow Texan Cody Johnson, who will also perform at LMF.

Slater is a two time, Grammy-nominated, piano-playing, bilingual singer-songwriter of Bolivian American descent signed to BMG Music Publishing in Nashville. Willie Nelson, Tim McGraw, Enrique Iglesias, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Kenny Chesney, Kelly Pickler, Alabama, Reba McEntire, Gloriana, Runaway June, Martina McBride, Chris Brown, Chris Young and a host of others have all recorded his songs. His Grammy nominations include Jamey Johnson’s The High Cost of Living, country song of the year, and Martina’s In My Daughter’s Eyes, which has become a modern day standard. James wrote Keith Urban’s hit single, God Whispered Your Name, as well as Tim McGraw’s God Moves The Pen.

“With adding the activities this year in addition to the performances by the two hit songwriters, we feel that this year it’s much more than just a concert, it’s an experience,” said Jonny Hill, founder and owner of Lynchburg Music Fest.

Gates will open on Thursday at 4 p.m. and 11 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Single day tickets and weekend general admission passes are still available.

This year event organizers added a rodeo to the event on Saturday around noon. There will be a four man Roping Rodeo teams competing for a $10,000 purse.  This event will be included in all Weekend Lynchburg Music Fest Passes.  Rodeo only tickets are available for $15.
