LOCAL NEWS — The first Metro School Board meeting of 2022 will happen on Monday, January 10 at the MCHS Library at 6 p.m.

New business will include a policy review of Moore County Board of Education policies 5.100 through 5.310. Those policies address personnel guidelines for things like job descriptions, recruitment, supervision, evaluation, and compensation guidelines.

Director of Schools Chad Moorehead will also seek 2022-23 budget season input from board members and present a mid year report on school operations.

The Board will also be asked to consider a request from MCHS Raiderettes Head Softball Coach Kim Harvey “to replace the wooden bleachers in the centerfield with a safer option.” The project would be funded with dollars recently donated to the MCHS Raiderette Softball Program in memory of Kyleigh Camp. The MCHS alumni and star softball player died in a car accident in 2021.

Director Moorehead will also give a report concerning Moore County’s recent state ranking in ACT Composite Scores. Local student scores were ranked #16 among 129 other schools across the state. Moore County is the only regional school in the top 20. Tullahoma City Schools ranked next highest regionally at #26.

All Metro School Board meetings are open to the general public. If you can’t attend in person, The Lynchburg Times will live blog the meeting on its Facebook page. •
