Metro School Board meets on Monday

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — The Moore County Board of Education will meet on Monday, May 8 at the Moore County High School Library beginning at 6 p.m.

It’s budget season in Metro Moore County and Monday’s meeting will include a discussion of the General Purpose and Cafeteria budgets as well as the 2023-24 Differentiated Pay Plan. That plan includes the goal of offering more competitive salaries in difficult to fill positions. To view that plan, click here.

The Board will also be asked to vote on the Moore County Department of Educations Summer Hours. Those hours are generally Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the exception on Friday, June 2. Those offices will also be closed on Tuesday, July 4 for the Fourth of July holiday. The Board will also vote on two teachers receiving tenure: Manny Buchanan and Caleb Poston.

The Board will consider a Pre K 619 Peer Model Program, which seeks to place disabled students and typically developing students in the same classroom. You can view a summary of that plan by clicking here.

They will also be asked to approve two field trip requests. The Raiders Boys Basketball will travel to Pensacola, Florida on December 26-30 for a basketball holiday tournament. The Moore County Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) group will also go to Dallas, Texas on June 20-25 for a HOSA competition. To view both those requests, click here.

The Board will also discuss non-faculty coaching supplements, surplus property, and the annual Juneteenth holiday.

Director of Schools Chad Moorehed will discuss a Summer Learning Camp with the Board and give an update on Capital Projects.

All Metro Moore County Board of Education meetings are open to the general public. Any concerned citizen may speak to the Board, however per Board policy any individual who wished to appear before the Board must submit a request in writing to the Director of Schools 10 days before the meeting.
