Raiderettes beat Lady Tigers 48-41 in Lynchburg

LOCAL SPORTS | Lynchburg — The Raiderettes took the lead early and never looked back on Tuesday beating the Fayetteville Lady Tigers 48-41 in a district matchup. The win improves Moore County’s district record to 4-2. Fayetteville dropped to 2-5 in district play. As of Wednesday, the District 8A rankings were as follows: #1 Huntland (6-0), #2 Moore County (4-2), #3 Eagleville (3-3), #4 Fayetteville (2-5), and #5 Cornersville (1-6).

Moore County jumped out to a huge first half lead over the Lady Tigers scoring seven in the first period and 14 in the second period while holding the Lady Tigers to a single basket in each stanza. They went into the locker room leading 21-4. Ellie Graham led in the first half with 10 of Moore County’s 21 points.

The Raiderettes maintain down the stretch scoring 15 in the third and 12 in the fourth. Fayetteville’s big period game in the fourth with 25 points. At the final buzzer, the Raiderettes earned a 48-41 victory.

Olivia Richards led for the Raiderettes with 15 points followed by Ellie Graham with 11. Maecy Fletcher and her sister Katy Fletcher each contributed eight points. Chloe Brazier added four more and Charlotte Ray scored a basket. Hannah Griffin led for the Lady Tigers with 16 points.

The Raiderettes play their fourth straight home game this Friday against Eagleville (14-10, 3-3). They will tip off at 6 p.m. at the MCHS Gym.
