MOORE COUNTY — Money collected from Moore County property taxes pays for things like public schools and public safety and the deadline to pay 2020 tax bill is coming soon.

Moore County Trustee Lynn Harrison reminds Moore County residents that all local property taxes are due before the last day of the month, which falls on a Sunday this year.

Since February 28 takes place on a Sunday, when the Moore County Trustee’s office will be closed, this means all 2020 property tax payments should be made prior to February 28. The Moore County Trustee’s office will be open the day before the deadline on Saturday, February 27 until 12 p.m. Local property owners can also make payments through the secure Tennessee Trustee site by clicking here or make payment by phone at 877-768-5048.

According to Tennessee state law, property taxes become past due on March 1 and interest begins accruing at 1.5 percent per month. According to Harrison, any property tax payment postmarked prior to February 28 will be receipted as on time; any postmarks after February 27 will have interest added to them.
