CORNERSVILLE, Tenn. — Prior to gobbling until they wobbled on Thanksgiving, the Moore County High School varsity girls basketball ball squad went 1-2 at a holiday tournament hosted by Cornersville High School. Moore County lost to Class 2A team Loretto 52-45 on Monday, beat Region 5A Culleoka 60-35 on Tuesday, and lost to Class 2A Summertown 56-43 on Wednesday.

Graham leads against Loretto with 19 points

On Monday, the Raiderettes paced Loretto in the first period with Paisley Logan, Katy Fletcher, and Ellie Graham all scoring a basket and Ava Butts adding two from the line. At the end of the first period, Moore County trailed by one point, 9-8. The Mustangs pulled ahead in the second period thanks in part to three-point shooting – nine of their 13 second period points came from the perimeter. Moore County struggled offensively in the second. Maecy Fletcher scored the lone Raiderettes bucket while she and Graham swished four from the charity stripe. Moore County went into the half time locker room trailing by eight, 22-14.

Moore County mounted a come back in the third period – outscoring the Mustangs by six points. Graham led in the third with 11 points. Butts added a trey and Katy Fletcher added another two. By the end of the third, they trailed by a single bucket, 32-30. The Raiderettes found themselves in foul trouble in the fourth quarter – a fact that was likely the difference maker in the game. Thirteen of Loretto’s 20 fourth period points came from the free throw line. At the final buzzer, Moore County lost to Loretto 52-45.

Ellie Graham led for Moore County with 19 points. Other contributing Raiderettes were: Paisley Logan (9), Katy Fletcher (6), Ava Butts (5), Maecy Fletcher (4), and Madison Dingler (2).

Laney Weather led for Loretto with 17 points.

Graham and Dingler scored double digits against the Warriors

On Tuesday, the Raiderettes jumped out early on Culleoka in the first period and never looked back. They outscored the Warriors 19-6 in the first period thanks in no small part to hot three-point shooting from the Raiderettes. Katy Fletcher, Ellie Graham, Ava Butts, and Madison Dingler all swished treys to give Moore County an early 19-6 lead. The Warriors paced the Raiderettes in the second period. At the break, the Warriors still trailed the Raiderettes 28-15.

Moore County maintained their lead down the stretch outscoring the Warriors by five in the third and seven in the fourth period. At the final buzzer, the Raiderettes notched a 60-35 win.

Ellie Graham led for Moore County with 17 points including two from the perimeter. Madison Dingler also scored double digits with 13 points including a pair from the perimeter. Other contributing Raiderettes were: Katy Fletcher (8), Ava Butts and Anna Harder (6 each), Maecy Fletcher (5), Paisley Logan (3), and Emily Burks (2).

Maci McKennon led for Culleoka with 11 points.

Maecy Fletcher and Madison Dingler led against Summertown with 11 points each

On Wednesday, Moore County lost to perennial pre-season Class 2A Top Ten team the Summertown Eagles by a final score of 56-43. Summertown jumped out early on the Raiderettes – ending the first period ahead by three and stretching that lead to 13 at the half, 29-16. They maintained the lead after the break – handing Moore County a 56-43 loss.

Two Raiderettes, Maecy Fletcher and Madison Dingler, led for the Raiderettes with 11 points each. Other contributing Raiders were: Ellie Graham (7), Paisley Logan (6), Katy Fletcher (4), Ava Butts (3) and Anna Harder (1).

Karlie Campbell and Ansley Burleson led for Summertown with 15 points each

Moore County will kick off regular season play on Tuesday, November 29 in Culleoka. The game will take place in Maury County at Culleoka High School located at 1921 Warrior Way. •
