Raiderettes travel to Eagleville on Tuesday for district match up

LOCAL SPORTS | Rutherford County — They are currently tied for the number two spot in District 8A action. On Tuesday, the MCHS Raiderettes (13-7, 1-1) will travel one hour north to Rutherford County to take on the Lady Eagles (11-8, 1-1). Both teams currently sit behind Huntland, who are currently perfect in district play. The Huntland girls’ squad beat Cornersville 53-31 on January 8 and the Raiderettes 51-38 last Tuesday to snag the top spot.

Moore County comes into the match up fresh off a resounding 50-37 victory at Fayetteville last Friday night. Chloe Brazier (14) and Ellie Graham (12) combined for over half of the Raiderettes 50 points in the game. The Lady Eagles got a narrow one-point road victory over Cornersville last Friday.

It will be the first season match up for the district rivals. The two teams split the 2021 regular season match ups. Moore County lost to Eagleville 39-27 at home in game one and beat the Lady Eagles on their own turf, 46-36, in game two. The Raiderettes went on to lose the District 8 Semifinal game to the Lady Eagles on February 23 by a final score of 43-30 – so the gals in Columbia Blue might be looking to exact a little pay back.

Tip off will be at 6 p.m. For those who plan to travel to the game, the school’s address is 500 Highway 99 in Eagleville. If you can’t attend, the Moore County Sports Network will travel to cover the game and you can watch it on the NFHS Network. The Lynchburg Times will also live blog score updates during the game on our Facebook page. •
