Raiders earn 11-1 victory over Cascade to add to district lead

LOCAL SPORTS | CASCADE — The Morey brothers just keep delivering on the mound for the varsity Raiders.

Moore County (9-5-1, 6-1) snagged a 11-1 District 8A victory over the Cascade Champions (4-12, 2-5) on Monday in Bedford County thanks to their outstanding pitching. The district win helps Moore County maintain their top spot in the district standings. Currently, the Raiders are in first place with six wins followed by Eagleville and Fayetteville with four district wins each.

On Monday, Kyler Parker got the Raiders on the scoreboard first when he singled on a 3-2 count – scoring one run. The Raiders put the game away in a big third inning with six runs including hits by Will Harder, Ryder Morey, Kaden White, and Chris Martin. Martin led for Moore County with three hits on four at bats. In total, the varsity Raiders collected 10 hit on the day.

They also exerted their will on the bases – stealing eight.

Ryder Morey got the start and the win for Moore County. He pitched four innings allowing just four hits and one run – striking out six. Keller Morey relieved his older brother in the last two innings allowing zero hits and zero runs down the stretch.
