Which Raiders will show up at Eagleville district game on Tuesday?

LOCAL SPORTS | Eagleville –– The Moore County varsity Raiders (4-16, 0-2) have been a little Jekyll and Hyde this season. Against Cannon County on January 4 and Fayetteville on January 14, the Raiders played electric, determined basketball. They never flinched and set the tone for the game early. By contrast, the Huntland game last Tuesday felt messy, frustrated, and on the edge of out of control.

Just which Raider squad will show up tonight in Eagleville (3-16, 0-2) is anyone’s guess but if they plan to make a run at the District 8 playoffs, they’re going to have to piece together a win streak soon.

The Raiders come into the Eagleville game hot off a disappointing two point loss at Fayetteville last Friday night. Moore County managed an impressive 21 point second period to pull ahead 31-29 at the break. They led for much of the third period before the Tigers battled back. With 28 seconds left to play in a tie ballgame, a Raider foul sent Fayetteville to the line. They swished both — securing the win.

Eagleville, who is also 0-2 in district play, comes into Tuesday’s game fresh off a single digit loss to Cornersville last Friday. The final score was 47-42.

The Raiders will tip off immediately following the Raiderette game. For those who plan to travel to the game, the school’s address is 500 Highway 99 in Eagleville. If you can’t attend, the Moore County Sports Network will broadcast a game feed without commentary on the NFHS Network. The Lynchburg Times will also live blog score updates during the game on our Facebook page. •
