THP issues preliminary report on Highway 55 fatality

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol recently issued a preliminary report of auto accident on Highway 55 that resulted in the death of a local man. All official accidents reports for Moore County are issued by THP and not by the Moore County Sherriff’s Department.

According to the report, on December 22, a Ford F150 truck driven by Ray Tucker, age 59, travelled north on Highway 55 when it crossed the center line and struck an International CMW head on. Travis Sanders, age 43, was the driver of the semi truck. According to the report, both vehicles left the roadway on the southbound side. The semi overturned and came to rest and the F-150 caught fire and came to rest in the ditch.

There was one fatality in the motor vehicle accident, Ray Tucker, age 59, of Lynchburg. Tucker was one of the owners of American Craft Distillers of Lynchburg. According to the report, both men were wearing seat belts and no further charges are anticipated. •
