LOCAL NON-PROFIT NEWS — The Family Community Development Center, Child Developments Center, Storehouse Food Pantry, Hospice of Highland Rim, Haven of Hope, and Partners for Healing were among a list of 20 area non-profit recently funded by United Way of Highway 55. All six serve the citizens of Moore County.

In late May, United Way of Hwy 55’s Director and Allocations Committee interviewed 25 local nonprofits that applied for funding. The allocations committee met on June 1 to discuss and choose the new partner nonprofits for cycle year 2021-2022. Nonprofits from the area submitted applications and required documentation in early May, which the allocation committee reviews every year.

The committee members include a diverse group consisting of board members, community leaders, and donors in the three counties they serve: Moore, Coffee, and Warren. Through this process, they identify how organizations in our community can work together to provide the most effective and efficient services.

Allocations Committee members include Ashley Wright, Pam Bussell, Ashley Kraft, Pam Barnes, Marsha Hale, Mike Belzil, Chad Moyer, Daniel Berry, Michele Simmons, Holly Buchanan, Maggie Powell, and Michelle Carmack.

Other funded non-profits included Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency, HAWC-Helping Animals of Warren Co., Children’s Advocacy Center, 31st Judicial District, HOME, Kids of the Community, Warren Co Meals on Wheels, CASA Works, Good Samaritan of Tullahoma, Coffee County Senior Citizens, Coffee County Child Care Center, HorsePlay Inc., and Coffee County Children’s Advocacy Center.
