LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — Whisky Magazine recently announced their World Whiskies Award and a little local product received some hardware. They named the Jack Daniel’s Distillery’s Bonded Tennessee Whiskey as the World’s Best Tennessee Whiskey. {To see the complete list of winners, click here.}
Jack Daniel’s launched Jack Daniel’s Bonded Tennessee Whiskey as one of two new whiskeys back in May 2022. The distillery added the Bonded Tennessee Whiskey series and Triple Mash Blended Straight Whiskey as permanent offerings in the brand’s new Bottle-in-Bond Series. {To read our complete coverage of that launch, click here.}
“All of us here in Lynchburg are humbled and honored by the national and international recognition that we’ve received for our Jack Daniel’s Bonded Tennessee Whiskey,” said Master Distiller Chris Fletcher. “Every morning we wake up with the goal of crafting the very best Tennessee Whiskey that we can, and while we aren’t doing it for awards, it does make us proud that so many others in the whiskey world have taken notice.”
Bottled-in-Bond at 100 proof (50 percent abv), with packaging inspired by the original design of the 1895 Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey bottle. As stipulated by the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, a bonded whiskey must be distilled by a single distiller during a single season, matured in a government bonded warehouse for at least four years, and bottled at 100 proof.
Like all whiskey made in The Holler, Jack Daniel’s Bonded is Jack’s time-honored recipe of 80 percent corn, 12 percent malted barley, and 8 percent rye. Barrels were hand selected for their unique and particular characteristics of deeper color, flavor, and aroma, which bring a darker, richer, and more oak-forward character to Jack Daniel’s Bonded. It is a big, bold Tennessee Whiskey at 100 proof with layered notes of caramel, rich oak, and spice giving way to a pleasantly lingering finish.
In our opinion, Bonded is also a heck of a buy at just $29.99 for a 700ml bottle. •
