FRANKLIN COUNTY — We’re all going a little stir crazy these days but the folks at Tims Ford State Parks are working hard to provide Moore County with opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors while properly social distancing like their S’mores with a Ranger event set for Saturday.

Created in the 1920s by those in the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America circles, the s’more is a contraction of the phrase “some more” and refers to the delicious nature of the open-faced graham cracker sandwich made with toasted marshmallows and half a chocolate bar. Traditionally, they’re cooked over an open fire.

On Saturday, January 30 the folks at Tims Ford State Park in Franklin County plan a s’more making adventure. Interested locals should meet Ranger Smith at Campground Circle behind the camp store at 7 p.m. for S’mores with a Ranger. You’ll get to enjoy an open campfire, a delish snack, and some socially distanced fun. Be sure to dress warmly and bring a drink.
