OBITUARY | Sharon Prater Bobo of Lynchburg died on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at her home at the age of 65 with her family by her side. Funeral Services are scheduled for Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m. at Lynchburg Funeral Home with burial to follow at Lynchburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lynchburg Funeral Home.
Sharon was born in Milwaukee to the late Silas A. Prater, Sr. and the late Catherine (Hagner) Prater. She was a 1975 graduate of Moore County High School and retired from the Jack Daniel Distillery in July of 2021 after working over 40 years. She enjoyed her work and work family and helped coordinate too many employee celebrations and events to count. She was an active member of the Friendship Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by stepmother, Genetta Prater; sister, Nancy Hart; brother, Silas Prater, Jr.; stepsister, Gwen Smith; father-in-law, Robert Bobo and brothers-in-law, Keith Bobo and and Bobby Stephens.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Daniel Bobo of Lynchburg; son, Patrick Bobo (Kellie) of Denver, CO; daughter, Lauren Gillespie (Jason) of Madison, AL; sisters, Linda Stephens of Shelbyville, Debbie Norman (Parks) of Lynchburg, Kathryn Smith (Terry) of Lynchburg, Barbara Allen of Tullahoma and Cindy Fanning (Jerry) of Lynchburg; mother-in-law, Joyce Bobo of Tullahoma; sisters-in-law, Robin Prater of Lynchburg, Jan Brewer (Gary) of Gruetli-Laager and Shanna Brooks (Winston) of Tullahoma; brother-in-law, Ronnie Hart of Lynchburg; stepsisters, Teresa Hensley and Kim Smith; grandchildren, Clark, Addison and Allie Bobo and Silas and Luke Gillispie and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made in her honor to the Multi-County Cancer Support Network, 501 W Broad Street, Decherd, TN 37324. •
