It’s officially fall festival season here in southern, middle Tennessee. Add that to the plethora of fun, spooky Halloween events and there’s ton of cool things to do this weekend. Here’s a list of our top five events happening in and around Lynchburg this weekend.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show in Tullahoma | It’s an annual event that brings out the lovers of the 1975 musical comedy horror film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It’s a cult classic and every October theaters and performing arts organizations around the country host screenings of the movie and invite fans to dress in character. The original starred Tim Curry as Dr. Frank-N-Furter as well as Susan Sarandon as Janet Weiss and Barry Bostwick as her fiancée Brad Majors. The South Jackson Civic Center in Tullahoma will host four screenings of the film at 8 p.m. and at midnight on both Friday and Saturday. To buy tickets or get additional details, click here.
Uncredited: The Life and Career of Virginia Gregg Book Launch in Tullahoma | For over 40 years, Virginia Gregg appeared in countless radio, television, and film roles but despite her 40 year career, many of those roles went uncredited including her legendary performance as Norma Bates in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 classic Psycho. Her career is the subject of a new book by local author Lona Bailey. On Saturday, the Tullahoma Fine Arts Center will host a book launch party from 5-7 p.m. For more information, click here.
BBQ Fundraiser for the Flat Creek Fire Department | Smoke will roll into the Holler next weekend for the 33rd annual Jack Daniel’s Barbecue but if your mouth is already watering for some great barbecue and you like to support a good cause, we’ve got the perfect event for you. Check out the Flat Creek Volunteer Fire Departments’ annual BBQ Fundraiser on Saturday. Plates are just $10 and there will be a silent auction that begins at 3 p.m. You can buy tickets in advance at the Lynchburg Veterinary Hospital, Suncatchers Market, or from any volunteer fire fighter.
