LOCAL OBITUARY | Moore County native Linda Faye Gowan died on October 16, 2023 at Elk River Health and Nursing in Winchester, Tenn. She was a resident of Fayetteville and 81 years old.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, October 19 at Booneville Cemetery with Bro. Jeff Collet officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
Faye was born December 12, 1941, in Moore County, Tenn. to the late Farris William and Lurlene Goosby Brown. She retired from Jack Daniels Distillery as a bottler and farmed with her husband for many years. According to her family, Faye was an excellent cook, a wonderful and supportive friend, and one of the kindest people you would ever meet. She enjoyed shopping and eating out, and her faith was extremely important to her. Faye worshipped at Booneville Church of Christ for many, many years. Perhaps her most loved role was that of “Granny Faye” to her grandchildren.
Survivors include her life-long friends and family of choice, Mike and Sandra Thomas, Betsy Thomas; granddaughters, Kalli and Vada; special friend, Scott Ulm; and her beloved cat, Flufffy. In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Cowden Gowan; and brother, William Ray “Bud” Brown.
