From Halloween in the Hollow in Lynchburg to a haunted island on Tims Ford Lake, possessed woods in Manchester, and a concert filled with anonymous Mummy musicians from Nashville – there’s all kinds of local Halloween fun happening now through next weekend.
LYNCHBURG | Halloween is a big deal here in the Holler. On Friday afternoon, Lynchburg Elementary School will kick things off with their annual LES Trunk or Treat from 4 to 5:30 p.m. followed by Halloween in the Hollow on the Lynchburg Square. Hundreds of kids and families will show up and show out in the costumed best. There will be a DJ, costume contest, and an appearance by the Headless Horseman. And bonus point, our editor will judge the costume contest.
| MOORE COUNTY | On Thursday, Motlow State will host its second annual Spooky Fun Halloween Concert at Powers Auditorium on the Moore County Campus. It will be a frightful night filled with creepy classics, haunting harmonies, and a few Halloween surprises. Admission is free and open to the public and costumes are encouraged.
| MANCHESTER | Dot’s Haunted Woods in nearby Manchester is always an area favorite. What’s creepier than a bunch of Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger jumping out at you in the middle of nowhere? They are located off Power’s Bridge Road on Vaughn Hollow in Coffee County and open a t 7 p.m. each night on October 24, 25, 26, 30 and 31 as well as November 1. The cost is $20 per person and they are cash only.
| FRANKLIN COUNTY | With a name like Devil’s Step, there’s no wonder that the folks at nearby Tims Ford State Park created a whole Halloween event around the location. If you are feeling brave, head out to the boat ramp and prepare for a harrowing boat trip to the Haunted Island for a night of fright. It happens this weekend, October 24-25 from 6-9 p.m. The cost is $20 for adult and $15 for kids 15 and under.
| TULLAHOMA | Some folks like a ghouls jump out at you kind of Halloween and others prefer a little more laid back affair. If you are the later, check out Old Shed’s Brewing Company’s Boos & Brews event on Halloween night. There will be live music and of course craft beer. Costumes are encourages. The frightful fun starts at 4 p.m. at 107 Montclair St. in Tullahoma.
| PELHAM | It’s an annual fundraiser for the Pelham Valley Fire & Rescue and it’s also spooky as all get out. Join them for the Twisted Nightmares Haunted House located at 3908 US Highway 41 in Pelham. It happens Friday and Saturday night through November 1 from 7-11 p.m. Adults are $15 and children under 10 are $12. There is a $2 discount for college students, military, and first responders with ID
PELHAM | It wouldn’t be Halloween without a mummy concert right? The Caverns in nearby Pelham will host Here Come the Mummies with Lachy Doley and Platinum Moon. They are an American funk-rock band best known for its live performances with anonymous members. Who’s behind those bandaged costumes? Who knows? We’re told they are all professional Nashville-based musicians with several Grammy Awards among them. Add that cool factor to the underground concert venue at The Cavern and it’s a Halloween must. They play at 8 p.m. on Halloween night.
