Moore Property Assessor Darin Harrison dies unexpectedly at the age of 56

Darin Harrison 1966-2023

LOCAL OBITUARY | Metro Moore County Property Tax Assessor Wayne Darin Harrison, age 56, died suddenly on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Darin was born on December 29, 1966, in Franklin County, Tennessee to Wayne and Carolyn (Smith) Harrison.

According to his family, Darin – better known as Block – lived every day loving his wife, daughters, and the apples of his eyes, his six grandbabies. Darin was known for his larger-than-life personality. He always saw the bright side in everything. He loved to aggravate and always had a big bear hug to share. He loved sports, of all kinds. You could always hear him yelling “down and ready” and “get your head in the game” in his loud loving voice. Darin loved fishing, hunting, and running his beagles. He was always arranging trips for him, his buddies, and the boy. He loved and enjoyed the great outdoors. Darin was absolutely amazing at controlling his emotions, he never reacted to negativity. He always said, “do not lower yourself to their level,” and “If you can’t control it, don’t worry about it.” He was a sounding block to many people. If anyone confided in him, they could be sure it was never told. Darin loved serving and protecting Moore County. He spent 12 with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department and was always checking on and loving his “Girlfriends.” He took care of all the teens back in the day. He corrected them and gave them many safe rides home. Darin was currently serving as the Moore County Assessor of Property. He took great pride in a job well done, his family stated in the obituary.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Harrison; grandparents, P.O. and Trixie Harrison, and Bill and Ora Lee Smith. Darin is survived by his parents, Wayne and Carolyn Harrison, who have always been proud of him and cherished being his parents. He is also survived by his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Lynn Harrison; daughters, Angela (Nick) Buckman and Dawn (Lee) Millaway; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Addayson, Lane, Emalee, Mackenzie, and Lylah.
