Protest march happens in Tullahoma on Saturday

Local motorists should expect traffic delays beginning at 5 p.m.

TULLAHOMA — Organizer plan the We Will Breath protest march for Saturday, June 13 beginning around 5 p.m. According to a press release from the City of Tullahoma, the march is being organizer by lifelong Tullahoma residents as well as City Administration to bring attention to the death of George Floyd while in police custody.

The march will begin at CD Stamps Community Center from 4-6 p.m. Beginning at 5 p.m., protesters will march north along Jackson Street towards City Hall. Then the group will turn around and march back to CD Stamps. Both Tullahoma Police Department and Tullahoma Fire Department officials will escort the group. Motorist are advised to seek an alternative traffic route as traffic will be delayed during this time.

City officials say parking will be limited at CD Stamps and overflow parking will be available at the Jefferson Street Park parking lot or in the park along West Cook Street.

“TPD has been working with the organizers and have planned for a peaceful community event like the annual MLK March,” according to the release. •
