LOCAL NEWS — Metro Mayor Bonnie Lewis announced on Wednesday that the Metro Council would not meet on their regular third Monday of the month schedule during the month of May and instead would postpone the next regular session meeting until Monday, May 24.
Metro officials postponed the meeting because local budget officials do not yet have a new certified tax rate from the Tennessee Board of Equalization. Budget committee members can not complete fiscal year 2022 budget calculations without this rate. Mayor Lewis stated that Metro expects to have that rate by Thursday, May 20.
The postponed meeting will take place at the Lynchburg Legion Building near the Lynchburg Public Pool at 6:30 p.m. All Metro Council meeting are open to the general public. •
