LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — Rabbit lives alone. He cooks for himself, cleans up after himself, and reads himself a nightly bedtime story. It’s a pleasant life, and Rabbit likes it. Then along comes Froggie—wet from a rainstorm, fixing snacks, and fluffing pillows to make story time more cozy. And it’s all too much. This is the play synopsis provided by the publisher of Too Many Frogs, the play chosen for an upcoming performance from the Motlow State Theatre Department.

Motlow schedules a children’s play each fall that serves as a popular fall field trips for Moore County elementary students.

This week Motlow State announced a performance of the popular children’s drama, Too Many Frogs, this fall. The local college’s theatre department plans school performances for Thursday, October 19 through Friday, October 21 and then again on Thursday, November 3 and Friday, November 4. Of the 15 total performances, only one will take place at night with the remainder catering to local schools.

Based on the children’s book by Sandra Asher, the story has been honored with state book awards in Texas and North Dakota and is nominated for many more.

School performances will be held at Motlow’s Power’s Auditorium on the Moore County campus. Performances will take place at 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, Thursday, November 10, Friday, November 11, and Thursday, November 17. On Friday, November 18, the show will run at 10:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., with a 7 p.m. show open to the public.

To accommodate school groups, the college will need to know the total number attending the play and whether your group will be traveling by bus. Reservation will be first come, first served basis and seating is limited so call for group reservations as soon as possible.
