Barbecue aficionados formed the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) back in 1985 to launch a local competitive barbecue cooking team. Since then, it’s bloomed into the overseer of hundreds of “sanctioned” events across the country and boasts over 20,000 members. And many of them belong to homegrown barbecue team with some of the quirkiest names you can imagine.
In fact, naming your team has become somewhat of an art form. Each year, we scan the list of competitors for our faves simply based on the name. It’s our own little world championship. Here’s this year’s picks:
