LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — The Motlow Bucks earned a trip to the NJCAA Central District championship game with a thrilling 1-0 win over Columbia State last Thursday to win their third consecutive TCCAA/Region 7 Women’s Soccer Tournament championship.
Motlow (13-2-3) travelled to Council Bluffs, Iowa on Saturday to face defending national champion and No. 1 ranked Iowa Western on Saturday. The Reivers (12-0) beat the Bucks 5-0 back on Aug. 16 in the opening game of the regular season. The winner will advance to the NJCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship tournament beginning Nov. 12 in Wichita, Kansas.
The Bucks and Columbia State battled scoreless until there were 13 minutes remaining. Motlow’s Camden Prosser scored the game-winning goal on an assist from Alba Embid. Motlow goalkeeper Alina Arneth held the Chargers scoreless, notching four saves while playing the entire 90 minutes.
The Bucks led in total shots with nine and had three shots on goal. Prosser had two of those, while Alexis McMath had the third. To learn more about Motlow State Athletics, click here. •
