Motlow hosts Trauma Conference on May 15

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — The McSwain Trauma Education Project (MTEP) promotes one simple idea: Death is your adversary and competitor – fight to win. On Thursday, May 15 the non-profit created by a Tulane University trauma surgeon, Norman E. McSwain, will collaborate with Motlow State for a day long conference to provide prehospital and emergency medical providers with a learning opportunity about trauma care and concepts that help them be better prepared for the situations they regularly handle in the workplace.

The all day conference will take place at the Marcum Technology Center from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Moore County campus and participants can hear presentations on the following topics from subject matter experts:

– Brendan Campbell, MD – Pediatrics

– Grace N. Miller, NRP/EMSI – Rural Transport

– Jaime Wesley, Critical Care Paramedic – Pharm in Trauma and Court Cases

– Sophie Fuller, Critical Care Paramedic – Pharm in Trauma and Court Cases

– Aubrey Lukis, Field Paramedic – Pharm in Trauma and Court Cases

– Kenny Moffitt, AD of EMS Education at Motlow State – Mental Health in Trauma

– Stephen Alderman, Motlow EMS Instructor – Blood Products

– Willow Chavez, Director of Giles County EMS – Triage and Tragedy

– Alex Cavalea, MD – Head Trauma

Groups of 10 will receive an additional registration discount. Students can attend for just $20. Breakfast, lunch, and CEUs will be provided.
