TIMS FORD STATE PARK — She made a local impact that remains 15 years after her unexpected death, and every fall local organizers host a fundraising golf tournament in her honor. This year’s Robbie McKenzie Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament is planned for Saturday, September 19 at the Bear Trace Golf Course located inside Time Ford State Park.

The beloved Lynchburg Elementary teacher died in 2011 at the age of just 48 years old. She taught in the Moore County School system for 27 years. The golf tournament raises funds for the Robbie McKenzie Memorial Scholarship awarded to multiple Moore County High School graduating seniors each year.

The tournament features a four man scramble in which four players score points as a team rather than score individual points. It’s a fun, fast-paced way to play the game in a gorgeous setting – a lakeside course with Champion Bermuda greens and 419 Bermuda fairways.

The cost for the fundraiser is $100 per person or $400 per team. Your fee includes greens fees, cart, and lunch. Tee time will be 8 a.m. It features other fun activiites like door prizes and a silent auction.
