The Moore County Raiders are now the number five team in Class 1A high school football, according to the Associated Press. The newest poll came out on Monday and have the Raiders (7-1) jumping Fayetteville City (6-2) after the Tigers’ 21-14 loss to Gordonsville last Friday. The Tigers narrowly beat the Raiders in Fayetteville on September 18 by a score of 28-22 and the two teams seem to be on a collision course for a rematch in regional playoff action.
South Pittsburg continues it’s reign in the top spot followed by Coalfield, Greenfield, and Copper Basin. Three Region 5 teams: #5 Moore County, #6 Fayetteville, and #9 Cornersville made the AP’s top ten. The complete rankings are:

- Moore County (7-1)
- Fayetteville (6-2)
- Lake County (5-1)
- Huntingdon (7-2)

Currently in Region 5A action, the standings are: 1) Fayetteville 2) Moore County 3) Cornersville 4) Huntland 5) Richland, and 6) Mount Pleasant.
In the Coach T Poll (click here for link), Moore County is ranked #1 among Division 1 Class A teams followed by Coalfield, Greenfield, Fayetteville, South Pittsburg, Huntingdon, Monterey, Cornersville, Gordonsville, and Midway.
Moore County will take on Richland on Friday at Raider Stadium. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month it will be a Pink Out game.
