Cashion among 13 Motlow student athletes named to All-Academic Team

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — The National Junior College Athletic Association recently named 13 Motlow student athletes to their All-Academic Team including former MCHS athletic stand out Brayden Cashion.

Cashion – who plays for the Buck’s basketball team – was one of three freshmen Motlow student athletes to be named to the All-Academic First-Team list with a perfect 4.0 GPA. The other two were women’s soccer player Mataline Snow and men’s baseball player Braden McFarlin.

Second-Team honorees earning a GPA of between 3.80-3.99 included three Motlow State women’s soccer stars including Madisen Hodges, Cheyenne Watson (also named Honorable Mention All-American on the field), and Kaitlynn Wofford.

The other seven student athletes earned All-Academic third team honors with a GPA between 3.6-3.79 and included Katelyn Helmick (softball), Jada Johnson (women’s basketball), Hannah Burks (softball), JD Day (baseball), Shayne King (soccer), Griffin Meeker (baseball), and Lameisha Parker (softball).

Motlow will begin the 2022-23 athletic season when the women’s soccer program opens practice August 1. The regular season begins Tuesday, Aug. 23 on the road in Cochran, Georgia against Polk State College. The first home match is Friday, Aug. 26, when the Bucks host Wabash Valley College at 1 p.m. at Siegel Park in Murfreesboro. •
