Early voting totals down this year in Moore County

Early voting totals are in for Moore County and nearly 20 percent of registered voters chose to vote early. In total 995 early ballots were cast – 797 Republican ballots and 163 Democratic ballots – out of around 5,000 registered voters in our county. By comparison, in the November 6, 2018 election, 1,360 citizens took advantage of early voting in Moore County as opposed to the 2,501 who cast ballots on Election Day. That’s around 54 percent of all votes cast that year.

Statewide, 578,252 early ballots were cast including 354,600 Republican ballots and 215,790 Democratic ballots. That represents about 13 percent of registered voter in Tennessee. According to the most recent election results, there are 4,163,359 active voters in the Volunteer State.

Election Day in Moore County will take place on Thursday, August 6. The ballot will include a primaries for US Senate, U.S. House of Representatives District 4, Tennessee Senate District 14, and Tennessee House of Representatives District 39 as well as local offices in the County General Election. Those up for re-election this year include Metro Council District 1 and District 3, and District 4, Assessor of Property, Road Superintendent, and Metro School Board District 2, District 4, and District 5. Voters will also choose an Urban Services District representative and decide whether or not Western Division Court of Appeals Judge Carma Dennis McGee should be retained or replaced.
