Former MCHS graduate Tiffany Gurley murdered in Lincoln County

FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. — According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, a young woman with Lynchburg ties was murdered just outside of Fayetteville on Monday night.

According to Investigator Doug Boeringer, sheriff’s deputies were called to a Wilson Road residence located about a mile from the Fayetteville city limits sometime after 8:45 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival they found 31-year-old Tiffany Gurley deceased. Gurley graduated from Moore County High School but had been living in Lincoln since approxiamately 2018.

According to Investigator Boeringer, the owner of the home, 67 year-old Robert Brooks, called 9-1-1 after he shot Gurley. According to preliminary reports, Gurley was living at the residence with Brooks. During the altercation, she allegedly reached for a nearby gun and Brooks shot her. He’s been charged with Second Degree Murder and currently sits in the Lincoln County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Brooks has no prior arrests.

Gurley’s body was sent to Nashville for an autopsy. No funeral arrangement were available at press time. •
