LOCAL OBITUARY |Former Moore County High School graduate and Shelbyville resident Janice Michelle Ray Jenkins, died on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Vanderbilt- Bedford County Medical Center at the age of 54.
She was born on September 26, 1968, in Tullahoma and graduated from Moore County High School. She was of Baptist faith and attended Hurricane Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching television and listening to music, especially gospel music, and reading and working crossword puzzles. But most of all, she cherished her family and was a devoted mom to her son, according to her famly
She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry L. Ray; grandparents, Vernon and Helen Farrar, and Charlie and Frances Ray; and great-grandparents, Charlie and Ruby McAdams, Grace Brown, Albert Farrar, and Monroe and Maxine Cobb.
Janice is survived by her son, Justin Jenkins; mother, Ellen Farrar Ray; brother, Rusty (Janet) Ray; and nephew, Caleb Ray (Maddy Blaylock).
Visitation will happen on Sunday, May 7, 2023, from 12-2 p.m. at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Canady officiating. •
