The Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue is a rain or shine event and a little rain never stopped the good time but those headed to Lynchburg on Friday and Saturday might want to come prepared to navigate a little rain.

According to the National Weather Service’s (NWS) Nashville office, there’s an 80 percent chance of rain on Saturday that could include thunderstorms. On Thursday, the NWS predicted two to four inches on Saturday with as much as five inches possible. Luckily, the temperature will hover near 70.

For those cooking, the low Friday night will be a manageable 58 degrees with showers and thunderstorm also possible.

Rain at the Jack Daniel Barbecue is not an anomaly. It often rains the third weekend in October and teams come prepared. For our guests, a baseball cap and a light jacket will probably have you covered.•
