David Camp dies at 58

LOCAL OBITUARY | Lynchburg resident David Landry Camp, aged 58, died on Tuesday, July 30 at St. Thomas Rutherford Medical Center in Murfreesboro.

He was born in Huntsville, Alabama on August 18, 1965, to the late Hershel L. and Patricia L. (Bobo) Camp. He worked at AEDC for 17 years in purchasing before working as the meat department manager at Woodard’s Market for the last nine years.

David was a devoted Christian man who loved the Lord. He attended the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, where he participated as a Sunday School teacher and lay speaker who enjoyed participating in all activities of the church. He also enjoyed playing and watching golf, cooking and grilling out with family and friends, and cheering for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team.

But most of all, he cherished the time spent with his beloved family, especially his one and only granddaughter. His genuine, outgoing personality allowed him to never meet a stranger, and he always had positive and encouraging words for those around him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kyleigh Camp; grandparents, Ben (Leta) Bobo; and sister-in-law, Susan Camp.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Anita Camp; daughter, Kelsey (Jordan) Hopkins; granddaughter, Ellie Jean Hopkins; brother, Tony Camp; mother-in-law, Katie Greenway; brothers-in-law, Davis (Sheree) Greenway, and Dan (Kim) Greenway; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, August 2 at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Funeral Services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor A J Alderman officiating. Interment will follow at Lynchburg Cemetery with Dan Watson, Jeff Foster, Jay Reynolds, Davis Greenway, Perry Price, Roger Johns, Denny Wise, and Chris Dickey serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send memorial donations to Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Lynchburg. •
