MCMS Raiders blank Flintville in final home game

LOCAL NEWS | Sports — The Moore County Middle School Raiders ended their regular season with a bang Thursday’s night with a 64-0 blow out win over the Flintville Bobcats at Doug Price Field.

First Half

The game started with an uncharacteristic misstep when the Raiders fumbled on the kick off and Flintville recovered the ball around mid-field. Two plays later, Brett Dobbs scooped up a Flintville fumble and put the first Raider touchdown on the boards. Dobbs also snagged the two point conversion to give the Raiders a 8-0 lead around the five minute mark.

Afterwards, Flintville quickly turned the ball over on downs to give the Raiders first and ten at the 11. Will Parker shuffled into the end zone for the score. Logan Hegwood converted the two point conversion to put the Raiders ahead 16-0 with under three minutes remaining in the first half.

On the following play, Flintville fumbled on the six yard line. The Raiders recovered. Logan Hegwood scored on the very next play. He also got the two point conversion to make it Raiders 24, Flintville 0 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Raiders repeated the mishap of the first fumbling the kick off, which was recovered by Flintville. Four plays later, the Bobcats turned the ball over on downs at the 19 yard line. On the next play from scrimmage, Keller Morey ran in for the score and Michael McNatt got the two point conversion to make the score 32-0.

After a couple of quick Flintville plays, they once again turned the ball over on downs leaving the Raiders short yardage. Michael McNatt scrabbled 32 yards, breaking tackles along the way, to get the Raiders six more. Brantley Hill got the two point conversion to make it Raiders 40, Flintville 0.

A Raider onside kick quickly gave them back the ball. Brantley Hill then shuffled his way 40 yards into the end zone for another Raider score. Logan Cashion converted the two point conversion to make it 48-0 at the half.

Second Half

Things didn’t get much better for Flintville in the second half. They got the ball first but failed to make forward progress and turned the ball over on downs. Michael McNatt, Landon Smith, and Logan Cashion combined to get a Raider first down before Brantley Hill scrambled into the end zone. Logan Cashion got the two point conversion to make it 56-0.

The fourth quarter started with another Flintville fumble. The Raiders recovered. Two plays later Brantley Hill and Logan Cashion combined to get within striking distance.

After three straight penalty plays, Logan Cashion finally made it into the end zone for the final Raider TD of the night. Brantley Hill got the two point conversion to make the final score 64-0.
