Moore County Schools get high marks in State Report Card

The Tennessee Department of Education recently released the State Report Card of public schools, including the 2024-25 School Letter Grades, for families and users to learn more about how districts and schools are performing across the state.

And this year’s report reflects what many students, parents, teachers, and administrators already know: based on the numbers Moore County boasts one of the highest scoring students in the South Central District as well as the state.

The State Report Card provides families, education leaders, elected officials, and the public with a variety of interactive displays to inform tailored strategies and investments to support students and schools.

In particular, Lynchburg Elementary’s sixth grade students are knocking it out of the park. Moore County ranked first in the South Central District in English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science, Social Studies. Those top district scores also translated to #24 in state in ELA, #38 in the state in Math, #31 in the state in both Science and Social Studies.

Moore County Middle School seventh grade students also got top scores — coming in first in the South Central District in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Those top district scores also translated to #30 in state in ELA, #46 in the state in Math, #2 in the state in Science, and #4 in the state in Social Studies.

Eighth grade students ranked high as well — coming in first in the South Central District in Math, #2 in Science and Social Studies, and #16 in ELA. Those top district scores also translated to #130 in state in ELA, #10 in the state in Math, #54 in the state in Science, and #56 in the state in Social Studies.

At Moore County High School South Central District highlights included #1 in Algebra II, #2 in Biology and English I, #3 in English II and Algebra. They also ranked #11 in Geometry in the South Central District. Moore County student scored a five in ACT scores in the district and #66 in the state.

In their final grade, Lynchburg Elementary received a C with just .3 needed for a B overall score. Moore County Middle School and High School received an overall grade B with .3 needed to receive an A grade.

School Letter Grades provide a snapshot of how each school in the state is performing, including student achievement and academic growth measures for all schools, as well as a measure of college and career readiness just for high schools.
