LOCAL NEWS | Education — A high school diploma remains as an individual’s ticket to many entry-level jobs. It’s also generally considered a prerequisite for college, technical training, and continuing education in one’s field. Motlow plans several High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) date through the rest of 2019 and into 2020 on the Moore County campus.

The HiSET exam differs from the General Education Development (GED) test in a couple of ways. One, the HiSET is offered on both paper and computer where most GED tests are administered digitally. Two, the HiSET and GED both test individuals on their knowledge of math, science, social studies and language arts. However, the HiSET has 5 subtests (one each for reading and writing), while the GED uses 4 subtests. Third, individuals can take the HiSET up to three times each calendar year. There is no limit on the number of times one can take the GED.

Individuals interested in taking the HiSET™ must register online at the HiSET website or by calling 855-694-4739. Applicants should contact the Adult Education Center in their community for information on preparation classes and vouchers.

Test-takers must present a government issued picture identification, confirmation of registration, and an Eligibility for Enrollment Form, if applicable.  The test is available in both computer and paper-based format.
