Motlow State Theatre will perform Heathers: The Musical in April

It’s a huge box office success starring one of the trendiest new stars and now Heathers: The Musical will make its way to a Moore County stage thanks to the Motlow Theatre Department.

Motlow State Community College recently announced the presentation of Heathers: The Musical on April 18, 19, and 20 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for anyone who has a Motlow ID and $10 for all other attendees. This play is intended for audiences 16 and over as the story contains mature themes and situations as well as adult language.

It’s based on the 1989 cult classic film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. The dark comedy follows Veronica Sawyer, a student at Westerberg High School. Veronica is a member of the most popular clique at her school, led by three girls all named Heather. When Veronica abandons the clique to date the mysterious new student J.D., everything in her life takes a dark turn.

The cast will include Kiauna Lawrence of Hillsboro as Veronica Sawyer, Tucker Johnson of Tullahoma as Jason “J.D.” Dean, Audrey Lawson of Tullahoma as Heather Chandler, Maven Robinson of Winchester as Heather McNamara, and Talia Dillard of Manchester as Heather Duke.

Emily Seals of Tullahoma will direct the play and Connie Dodson of Tullahoma will choreograph. Jonathon Woodfin of Manchester will be the musical director.
