Raiders end regular season #3 in AP and Coach T polls

With their final, regular season ending 38-13 win against Mount Pleasant in Lynchburg last Friday, the Moore County Raiders moved up to number three in the final Associated Press (AP) regular season pole of the 2020-21 season. Moore County also ranked number three and the Coach T Top Ten Teams poll behind Coalfield and South Pittsburg.

The complete rankings are as follows: 1. South Pittsburg (9-1), 2. Coalfield (8-0), 3. Moore County (9-1), 4. Copper Basin (8-1), 5. Fayetteville City (8-2), 6. Huntington (8-2), 7. Greenfield (8-1), 8. Gordonsville (7-3), 9. Lake County (5-1), and 10. West Carroll (6-3).

At the end of week 11, Moore County and Fayetteville City are the only two Class A Region 5 teams remaining in the AP poll. Throughout the season, Cornersville and Huntland had also earned AP ranking but fell out in the final week.

The first round of the 2020 Class 1A TSSAA State Football Playoffs kicks of this Friday with teams from Region 5 facing off against Region 6. The match up are as follows:

#4 Region 6 Hollow Rock Bruceton at #1 Region 5 Fayetteville City

#3 Region 6 Wayne County at #2 Region 5 Moore County

#3 Region 5 Huntland at #2 Region 6 Collinwood

#4 Region 5 Cornersville at #1 Region 6 Huntington
