LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — The Moore County Raiders notched their first win of the season Tuesday at Moore County High School – knocking off Culleoka 69-58. Colton Morey, Tristyn Gray, Cooper Dickey, and Anderson Sharpe combined for 64 of the Raiders 69 points.
It was a huge night for Colton Morey who had a season high 28 points to lead all scorers on the night. Eight of his points came in the first period as he rained down a pair of threes before knocking down a pair of free throws. Tristyn Gray made the Raider free throw shooting percentage perfect in the first as he hit both of his free throws and added a field goal on his way to a 14-point night. Anderson Sharpe hit the first of his three triples in the first and finished with 11 points on the night. The offensive output by the Raiders gave them a 15-12 lead after one.
The Raiders would find themselves trailing by half as they were outscored in the second 20-16. Sharpe was able to keep his team in touch by connecting with a pair of long range bombs from beyond the arc. He was joined in the triple club by Morey and Cooper Dickey in the second. Dickey went on to put up 13 points on the night. Gray continued his steady performance by hitting a pair from the field as the Raiders trailed 32-31 at the break.
The Raiders came out strong in the third, outscoring their guests 17-11 with Morey having a big hand in the rally as he hit a three, a pair of deuces and a free throw. Dickey added to the mix with a three and a two while Sharpe and Deacon Liles added two apiece.
The Raiders turned it up another notch in the fourth and outscored Culleoka 21-15. Morey spent most of the final frame at the line as he was five-for-seven from the stripe. He also had a field goal. Dickey was also a frequent flier at the line, going three-for-four with a field goal to boot. Gray visited the line six times and knocked down two opportunities. He also hit two key field goals. Drew Hardison rounded out the final by going one-for-two on the line.
Morey led all scorers with 28 points followed by Tristyn Gray with 14 and Dickey with 13. Anderson Sharpe also scored double digits with 11. Braylynn Hill and Deacon Liles contributed a bucket each. Drew Hardison made one from the line.
Moore County will play Lincoln County on Friday in Lynchburg. The Raiderettes tip off at 6 p.m. and the Raiders will follow. •
