LOCAL SPORTS | MANCHESTER — The Westwood Lady Rockets managed a huge first inning on Wednesday in Manchester on their way to as 18-9 victory over the Moore County Middle School Raiderettes. Westwood strung together a single, a double, a triple, and a homerun to piece together the big lead.
Moore County’s biggest inning came in the third. Anna Leigh Ross grounded out, scoring one and Kaitlynn Gattis singled on a 3-0 count, scoring two runs. Moore County racked up 13 hits in the game but just could not catch up. Gattis led for Moore County with four hits in five at bats. Addye Norman followed with three hits an Rian Ross managed two. Anna Leigh Ross, Kallie Ross, Emily Burks, and Faithin Raby all contributed a hit each.
Kinsley Miller took the loss for Moore County. She allowed seven hits and 10 runs one one inning, striking out one. Kallie Ross relief pitches the next five innings. •
