LOCAL SPORTS | Culleoka — The Moore County Raiderettes hit the gas in the first period against the Culleoka Warriors on Thursday and never let up. By the end of the final buzzer, they’d managed at huge 63-22 road win improving their overall record to 7-4. They do not begin District 9 play until January 11 when they travel to Huntland.
The Raiderettes headed into the Culleoka game fresh off a 52-41 road win over Forrest in which two players – senior Olivia Richards and freshman Ellie Graham combined for 41 of Moore County’s 52 points. Culleoka also came into the game fresh off win. They beat Riverside Christian 54-32 in Fayetteville on Monday.
Thursday’s game was the second meeting for the Raiderettes and the Lady Warriors. Moore County girl’s squad beat Culleoka 67-31 on November 30.
Raiderettes prove to be too much for Lady Warriors
The Lady Warrior struggled offensively in the first period with zero points while Moore County put up 22 including 12 by freshman Ellie Graham. By the break, the Raiderettes mounted a 22 point lead heading into halftime, 32-10. It didn’t get better for Culleoka in the second half. They managed just six points in each of the last two periods. In contrast, the Raiderettes scored a big third period including three straight treys from junior Paisley Logan. Coach Spencer substituted heavily down the stretch getting some younger Raiderettes valuable reps. Freshmen Madison Dingler and Audrey Harder as well as senior Breanna Burks all came off the bench and scored in the final eight minutes.
Ellie Graham led for the Raiderettes with 16 points followed by Paisley Logan with nine. Nine other Raiderettes got on the board including Audrey Harder (7), Olivia Richards (6), Maecy Fletcher (6), Chloe Brazier (5), Katie Fletcher (5), Madison Dingler (3), Charlotte Ray (2), Breanna Burks (2), and Erica Clifton (2).
The Raiderettes move on to their third away game of the week tonight as they travel to play the Cannon County Lions (5-5). The game tips off a 6 p.m. in Woodbury. If you plan to go, the GPS address is One Lion Dr.
