LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — A Moore County senior and a Moore County sophomore combined for 24 points on Thursday to help lift the Raiderettes to a 56-25 over Culleoka. The win improved Moore County’s regular season record to 5-1 and dropped Culleoka’s record to 2-8. Neither team has played a district game so far this season.
The two teams have met three times so far this season. Moore County beat Culleoka in the Cornerville Invitational Tournament on November 22 {to read that coverage click here} by a final score of 60-35 and then the Raiderettes snagged a 64-32 road win on November 29 {to read that coverage click here}.
Paisley Logan and Ellie Graham combine for 10 points each in first half
Culleoka got the first possession on Thursday but could not covert it to points. Moore County’s Paisley Logan then went on a six point run to get the Raiderettes up early, 6-2. Culleoka air balled a perimeter shot on their next possession, then Ellie Graham pieced together back-to-back scores. Culleoka scored their second basket of the game around the 4:15 mark in the first period.
Moore County turned over the the ball on their next possession. Then, as Culleoka dribbled down court, Madison Dingler stole the ball and drove inside for two more Raiderette points. Moore County finished up the first period with a trey by Paisley Logan and an inside basket and one from Ellie Graham. At the end of the first quarter, Moore County led 18-6. Logan and Graham combined for 15 of the Raiderettes 18 points .
The Raiderettes outscored Culleoka in the second period as well. Ellie Graham scored two from the line and a trey to pad Moore County’s lead, 23-6, on the first couple of second period possessions. Culleoka then found daylight inside on two consecutive plays for four points to make it 23-10. Audrey Harder scored back-to-back treys to end the second period. At the break, Moore County led 29-13.
Second string Raiderettes score in the second half
Coach Spencer began to substitute heavily in the second half and Moore County held Culleoka to just four third period points. The Raiderettes went on a seven-point run to open the period with points from Maecy Fletcher and Paisley Logan. At around the 3:27 mark, a Culleoka guard drove inside for the layup. They then managed a steal and a second layup for their final two points of the period. Moore County finished out the third stanza with points by Emma Sazonov and Anna Harder. At the end of three, Moore County continued to lead 45-17.
Moore County and Culleoka traded turnovers for the first two minutes of the final stanza before the Culleoka point guard passed cross court to a waiting post players for the inside basket at around the six minute mark. That led to a seven-point Culleoka run. It would be their final points of the game. With a little over two minutes to play, Makenzie Goodwin drained a trey to give Moore County as 50-25 lead. Points by Ava Butts, Bella Tucker, and Emily Burks finished out the scoring.
At the final buzzer, the Raiderettes managed a 56-25 win.
Logan and Graham lead with 12 points each
Paisley Logan and Ellie Graham led for the Raiderettes with 12 points. Maecy Fletcher and Audrey Harder scored six each and Anna Harder added another five. Makenzie Goodwin swished a lone trey. Katy Fletcher, Emma Sazonov, Ava Butts, Madison Dingler, and Emily Burks scored a bucket each. The Raiderettes scored 21 points from the perimeter and were five of six from the line.
Kendal Reischman led for Culleoka with 13 points.
The Raiderettes will take a break from regular season action over the Christmas break but will play AAA Tullahoma Lady Wildcats (3-6, 0-0) on December 22 and AAAA Coffee County Red Raiderettes (11-1, 0-0 ) on December 23 in the Jeff Taylor Christmas Classic to be played at Tullahoma High School. The will resume regular season play on January 3 at Forrest. •
