EAGLEVILLE, Tenn. — Oh what a difference a week makes – from play-in game to District 9A Runners Up. That’s quite a comeback story and it’s exactly what happened to the Moore County Raiderettes over the course of seven days.

Last Wednesday, the Raiderettes earned a 12-1 victory over Fayetteville to earned their way into the District 9A Tournament. A determined Raiderettes team put up 10 hits against the Lady Tigers. Paisley Logan put on a clutch performance that night – allowing just two hits on 75 pitches.

Then on Monday, this year’s district boogey man, Eagleville, handed Moore County a 8-2 loss – sending the Raiderettes to the loser’s bracket. Savannah Rose led for Moore County in that game with two hits. Anna Leigh Ross and Greenlee Ward also managed one hit each. Ward got Moore County’s lone RBI. Paisley Logan took the loss on the mound. She threw all seven innings managing 100 pitches and 54 strikes. She allowed eight hits and eight runs. To read our complete coverage of that game, click here.

Then, on Tuesday, with the Rocky theme playing in the background, the Raiderettes put together a gritty 6-1 win over Huntland to earn a rematch with Eagelville in the District 9A Championship game. Against the Lady Hornets, Moore County built a 3-0 first-inning lead and successfully protected it down the stretch. Anysten Metcalf and Savannah Rose led for the Raiderettes with two hits each. Rose managed two RBIs. Paisley Logan again earned the W on the mound – allowing just three hits and one run across seven innings.

On Wednesday, Eagleville beat Moore County 15-0 in just three innings but the Raiderettes still earned some hardware. They headed back to Lynchburg with a 2023 District 9A Runners Up trophy. Multiple Raiderettes earned individual district honors. Area Coaches named Anysten Metcalf their Defensive Most Valuable Player. Paisley Logan, Emilee Moorehead, Savannah Rose, Greenlee Ward, and Anna-Leigh Ross were all name to the District 9A All Season Team and Anysten Metcalf, Rose, Ross, and Logan were named to the District 9A All Tournament Team.

As District 9A Runners Up, the Raiderettes punched their ticket to the Region 5A Tournament. They will play Wayne County on Monday, May 15 at Wayne County. •
