LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — United Way of Highway 55 (UWHWY55) board members and Jack Daniel Distillery officials recently met for a check presentation in Lynchburg at the distillery Visitor’s Center.

United Way of Highway 55 works in the community to build access to financial stability, education, health services, and basic essentials in Moore, Coffee, and Warren Counties. In the past they’ve made donation to local non-profits like the Moore County Senior Center as well as non-profits that serve Moore County citizens like The Family Community Development Center, Child Developments Center, Storehouse Food Pantry, Hospice of Highland Rim, Haven of Hope, and Partners for Healing.

“We know Mr. Jack would be proud to know his community service lives on today. The Distillery is proud to support Highway 55 United Way in their community efforts,” stated the distillery’s Marsha Manley Hale.

Most know of United Way but not the impact they make locally. The local chapter, United Way of Highway 55, only focuses on three counties: Moore, Coffee, and Warren.  They collaborate with businesses, schools, individuals, nonprofits, churches, food pantries, and more to meet needs and find solutions. UWHWY55 gives individual assistance and helps direct needs to local nonprofits. All donated dollars stay in the community serving their partner nonprofit missions and many needed programs. One of their programs is 2-1-1, a free and confidential 24-hour hotline to guide community individuals to local resources and support.

Each year, UWHWY55 hosts the United in Spirits fundraiser on Jack Daniel’s Barbecue Hill. It’s a fun night at one of the most picturesque spots in Moore County. Tickets include dinner, entertainment, and an opportunity to enjoy a little local product. The 2024 date will be released soon according to Ashley Abraham, Executive Director of UWHWY55.

“We are extremely appreciative of Marsha Hale serving on our Board or Directors. She has such passion for her community and stays extremely active. We thank Jack Daniels for this very generous donation. We also thank them for their huge involvement and support in our biggest fundraiser of the year, United in Spirits,” stated Abraham. “We run on community support. The more donations we receive the bigger impact we can make for the local nonprofits and the needs within our community. Thank you to those that continue to support our mission.”
