They gather once a year at one of the most picturesque spots in Lynchburg to celebrate with a little local product and raise crucial funds that help nonprofits in Moore, Coffee, and Warren counties continue to offer services to those who need them most. On Wednesday, the United Way of Highway 55 announced that this year’s United in Spirit fundraiser on Barbecue Hill on The Jack Daniel’s Distillery campus will take place on Saturday, May 18.
The mission of the local United Way is to support missions and projects that trickle down to improve the everyday lives of people in this area. All the monies raised in this area stay in this area to support increased access to healthcare, basic income, essential needs, and education in southern, middle Tennessee.
Past Moore County recipients include Moore County Senior Citizens as well as groups that service Moore County like Partners for Healing, HorsePlay, Haven of Hope, and Hospice of Highland Rim.
Tickets cost $90 each and will go on sale on March 1. That price includes a catered dinner on Barbecue Hill, a little local product, live music, an auction full of unique items, and each attendee will take home a token of appreciation made by the distillery.
“This event would not be successful without the many business sponsors, committee members, volunteers, attendees, and board members. Our goal is to raise more to give more to our local nonprofits and community,” said United Way of Highway 55 Director Ashley Abraham.
Abraham says that the allocation process happens through the board members with an aim of using the money where it can have the biggest impact.
Individuals, small businesses, and corporation who would like to make an additional impact can either donate items for the auction or sign on as an event sponsor. For more information on event sponsorship, click here.
Tickets to the event are limited and may be purchased beginning March 1 at the nonprofit’s website. If you are interested in sponsoring the event, email Abraham at [email protected] or call 931.455.5678.•
